Strohacker Design School

Outland Denim Case Study

The students from Strohacker Design School demonstrated a completely different perspective on branding elements that I had not seen before! James Bartle, CEO, OUTLAND DENIM

Strohacker Design School students have been privileged to be working on a live brand apparel brief for the fantastic Australian Brand, Outland Denim.

Outland was set up in 2011 by James Bartle as a way to protect vulnerable people from exploitation, with a vision of empowerment, sustainability and transparency.

Outland Denim crafts premium denim jeans designed to bring the worlds of their amazing seamstresses and customers closer together. They source the finest raw materials from around the world while offering sustainable employment and training opportunities to women who have experienced exploitation, working from their Cambodian production facilities. They have proven that a sustainable career path and holistic approach to supporting their staff is the key to true social change in not only the lives of their staff but their families and communities.

Outland Denim has really started to hit the public eye with some very high profile converts to their brand, including Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, Hollywood film star Leonardo DiCaprio and Australian Actress Isabel Lucas.

On the project we worked closely with Nick Williams, ex Levis (Head of Graphics Europe) www.4th-avenue.com and Claire Ford, Design Lead for Outland Denim, clairefordconsultancy.com
